In Case You Missed It…

I did. Depite hearing bits and pieces about a wedding party dancing down the aisle, I had yet to see the video. So here it is for those who missed it! Definitely made me laugh!

Japanese Bouquet Innovation
Posted in Bouquets, Unique Ideas on 14 March 2009

My fiance has an obsession with Japan (and according to the book - “What White People Like”, it’s normal). We all know the styles and trends in Japan are light years ahead of most of us, so it’s natural that I enjoy perusing for asian wedding inspiration.

Below are some bouquets you would not traditionally see. Keep in mind they are extremely flamboyant, but when toned down, can make for a beautiful addition to your ensemble.

Rachael Ray Hosts Mass Wedding
Posted in News, Unique Ideas on 20 November 2008

Rachael Ray made a wedding possible for 33 couples, after their wedding venues closed after Hurricane Ike. Not to mention, many lost thousands of dollars in deposits. The event took place at Minute Maid Park in front of 500 friends and family. The brides and grooms walked down the aisle to Luther Vandross’ Here and Now, as each couples names were individually announced. The couples then recited their vows simultaneously and then placed rings on each others’ fingers.

“If there is a fairy godmother, it is Rachael Ray,” said groom Victor Cabungcal, 23. “This is an absolute miracle.”

The guests then dined on a menu designed by Ray and danced on a makeshift dance floor in the outfield. Each couple also received a custom-made cake.

Yay! That’s some very ‘feel good news.’ I am so happy these brides still were able to have their dream wedding, albeit a bit different

Planning a spring/summer wedding and in dire need of inspiration for a fun centerpiece? Jell-O the no calorie treat that brings out the kid in us can actually be used to decorate your reception tables! I saw this on rachelraymag.com and just had to share it with you. See below for the easy steps on how to make your own Jell-O centerpiece:

- Combine six boxes of Jell-O powder in half the amount of water specified (to get a more vibrant color).
- Chill the mix in your choice of vase for approximately 30 minutes.
- Push the flowers into the semi-firm gelatin.

And there you have it!

Betsey Johnson Bridal Gowns?!
Posted in Geek Ideas, Gowns, Invitations & Stationary, Unique Ideas on 13 September 2008

Who knew the ever so quirky Betsey Johnson has decided to break into designing wedding gowns?

At New York Fashion Week, Betsey’s 2009 spring collection surprisingly included some bride-like ensembles among her other youthful and eccentric pieces which everyone has been accustomed to. Wearing what seemingly looked to be wedding gowns, the models walked down the catwalk with their hands tied behind their backs with handcuffs. Talk about being chained down by marriage!! Truly it isn’t like being in jail! (hm…on second thought)

A bit to weird for my taste. It reminds me too much of what Madonna wore way back when. But fun to look at nonetheless. See below for more:

Isn’t it just cute? Easily customizable and easy to do yourself. For this guest favor, all you have to do is add a quote or message onto the piece of fabric, felt, or paper that goes inside the fortune cookie. Another idea is to use the cookies as holders for your escort cards at the reception. Check out Lady Harvatine for a complete do it yourself tutorial on how to make them. And look around because there’s some really nice and simple crafts that could easily be incorporated in your wedding.

Below is what fortune cookies made out of felt would look like (from Martha Stewart Weddings):
