I can pretty much guarantee that all you brides-to-be will want a non-white wedding gown after you see this next wedding captured by Janine Deanna Photography. A secret between the bride, bridesmaids and mother-of-the-bride, Raeanne chose to wear a blush wedding dress, surprising both the guests and Graham (the groom) when she walked down the aisle. In fact, it was Raeanne’s mother who encouraged her to get the lovely Maggie Sottero gown because she knew it was THE perfect gown for her daughter. Bridesmaids were dressed in dove grey and carried pink bouquets. The wedding was held at the ever beautiful Silvertip Resort in Canmore, Alberta, complete with an outdoor wedding ceremony with the mountains in the background and a lovely silver and pink reception that followed.

How they met: Graham and I first saw each other in high school but we never officially met there. A couple years later (after seeing each other in the halls at school for 2 years) we ended up working at the same restaurant. We slowly got to know each other, and worked together for a few months before he stole my phone number from the staff list, and he made his move by texting me. We very quickly were inseparable, a month after we started dating he asked to take me to my Grad 12 Grad (where I also wore a light pink dress). We got engaged 7 years later and started to plan our dream wedding.

Our Venue: We knew the first time we saw the outdoor ceremony location at the Silvertip Golf Resort, that it was where we had to say our “I do’s”. We would get married in front of the gazebo with a background of the Rocky Mountains and the town of Canmore tucked in the valley below. For the next year I pictured over and over walking down the aisle in my wedding dress to marry my best friend, in front of our family and closest friends.

The dress: My blush wedding dress was a huge surprise to all our guests, and to Graham. My bridesmaids and mom knew my little blush secret, my mom (unlike a lot of moms out there) encouraged me to get the Divina by Maggie Sottero in the blush colour saying “It is SO you”. I managed to keep it a secret when asked about my wedding colours, those who knew me well were shocked when I told them my bridesmaids dresses were Dove Grey, they knew I would have pink everything, if I could. Graham loved my blush dress, and I’m so glad I chose to wear a dress that was fun, sexy, unique and totally me.

The Ceremony: We decided to have an “unplugged” ceremony, and asked our guests to “be truly present with us” by putting their camera’s away for the duration of the ceremony. It was a lot to ask our guests, but I’m so glad we did. I feel like it made the moment much more intimate, and reminded everyone why we were there. Unfortunately, due to forest fires in BC there wasn’t much of a mountain background for our ceremony, but I was so happy that it didn’t rain (as the forecast predicted a few days before) that I embraced the smoky haze. I had my four flower girls walk down the aisle before me in their custom made tutus, and delicate flower crowns, two at a time. They paused half way down the aisle to blow bubbles, instead of throwing flower petals. When Graham saw me for the first time, as I rounded the top of the hill and headed down the aisle towards him, he looked like he was suddenly overcome with emotion, he had to hold back the tears. There was so much emotion as we walked towards each other, it was a moment that I’ll never forget. After we said our personalized wedding vows to each other, and were announced Mr. & Mrs, we were exploding with joy. We wanted the celebrations to start right away so once the ceremony was over we had Champaign served to our guests, right at the ceremony location. Guests were able to mingle and enjoy a glass of bubbly. It really set the tone for the whole day, that this was a day to celebrate.
Favourite moment: Seeing each other for the first time, as I walked down the aisle.

We enjoyed every moment of our wedding day, there was a LOT of laughter, our (amazing) photographer captured so many moments of genuine happiness between us. After 8 years of waiting for this day, it was everything we ever hoped for, we both had the best day of our lives (so far).
