Happy Thursday! I am so excited to share today’s wedding by my friend Renee and her associate Joyce (lead coordinator of the wedding in putting all the pretty details together) of getwed event planning. Leyanna and Franco met at her cousin’s wedding in Winnipeg where he was a groomsman. After they were introduced, the rest was history. In fact, the weekend after the wedding, Franco flew to Edmonton to see her and they’ve been together ever since. The decor in today’s feature is top-notch with so many swoon worthy details. It’s modern, elegant, chic, luxurious…all rolled up into one. Today we share the beautiful photos captured by Carmyn Joy Photography. You’ll want to visit us tomorrow where we share more of the decor details of Leyanna and Franco’s wedding from Renee’s portfolio and get her personal take on what the inspiration was for the wedding. You don’t want to miss it.

What was your favorite wedding day moment?
My favorite moment of the wedding day was walking own the aisle and seeing Franco. He looked so handsome.

My husband, Franco, and I met at my cousin’s wedding in Winnipeg, where he was a groomsman. My aunt introduced us and the rest was history. The weekend after the wedding he suprised my by flying out to Edmonton for the weekend and we’e been together ever since.

The inspiration behind our decor and color was that I really wanted to portray classic elegance. Im not one for bright colors so I went with petwter and ivory as both colors are timeless. We also had such a beautiful venue to work with that allowed everything to come together so perfectly.

Says Renee of getwed: Being a Naturopathic doctor, cupcakes and cake are not always on the top of Leyanna’s list when it came to choosing a dessert. But she indulged on her wedding day and overall it was effortless. The lemon cake was filled with coconut cream, chocolate cake filled with mocha cream, and vanilla cake filled with strawberry cream cupcakes for all her guests to enjoy.

Any advice for future brides/grooms-to-be?
Advice would be to really enjoy every moment. The wedding day is over faster than you could ever realize. And dont sweat the small stuff- things will go wrong but none of the guests will ever notice.

I love when I get engagements shot in unique locations. Captured by Adrian Photography, Ali and Jamie chose to shoot at Vancouver’s local bookstore MacLeod’s Books to make for a super fun session.

Juna Photography shares a pretty red and black wedding in Vancouver. One filled with a pretty dress, vibrant blooms, haiku, beer and a well-traveled couple. Enjoy!
Says Justin: Shannon & Sascha were married at Cecil Green Park House in UBC. This was the first wedding I’ve ever been to where the bride and groom wrote their vows in haiku! It’s amazing how much emotion you can pack into three short lines.

One of the highlights of the day was the surprise first look. It took a bit of coordination to make sure we caught Sascha totally unaware, but it was so worth it. I’m planning to do this many more times in the future.

You know you’ve struck gold as a photographer when your bride in her Vera Wang dress is cracking a beer before the ceremony. This was such a great day, with some of the funniest people you could ever hope to meet, and a couple who are deeply, madly in love.

Shannon & Sascha love to travel (and hotfooted their way to Europe for the honeymoon), so the postcards-as-guestbook was such a cool personal touch.
