By Melissa

FRIDAY. YES! The weather has been absolutely amazing here and I’m so excited for summer. It’s been extremely busy over on my end, I’m eagerly awaiting the new site design launch and building a house is honestly, a full-time job. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted for the look of my house, but now I’m questioning it all because my tastes seem to change with my moods.

I missed last Friday’s wrap-up because of the royal wedding (woot woot!), so this one will be a bit longer than the rest.

Enjoy.

Inspiration board time! It’s been too long. I think it’s time to bring navy back, this time paired with a soft coral which is now one of my favorite accent colours. I also threw in a bit of yellow in the bouquet to match the centerpieces. Love love love. If you missed my navy & yellow wedding board I created a while ago, you can see it here.

This next wedding is a total DIY wedding…a definite labour of love full of amazing details. Captured by the lovely Splash Photography, Ange and Chris is best described as modern chic with a strong colour palette of black, white and red (love!). Ange is actually a freelance artist (see her portfolio here), so every element of the decor was custom to the theme. The end product was an entirely personalized wedding…and can you believe that the flowers in the centerpieces were paper? A big thank you to Andrea (of Splash Photography) for sharing details on the wedding which you’ll read just after the photos. Enjoy!

Ange, being a Textile Designer, has fallen in love with graphic patterns and incorporated this into the decor and design ideas for her wedding. Ange designed all of the decor, but not the patterns. She fell in love with the Waverly Onyx black damask pattern and the stripe pattern was inspired by a wallpaper she had come across. Each and every piece of the ceremony and reception decor was designed by Ange. To execute her vision of old Hollywood glam, she handmade hundreds of paper flowers to compliment the colour scheme while simultaneously providing a custom hand-made, yet professional appearance. The finished look, right down to the release of monarch butterflies at the conclusion of their ceremony, was brilliant.

Ange’s level of organization was apparent from the moment we entered the hotel room… the hand-made paper bouquets were placed perfectly in vases on a table, her shoes sat on the edge of the perfectly made bed. The wedding gown hung gently from a wooden armoire. Custom made invites lay beside the bouquets with the wedding rings. Only moments later Ange and the girls arrived ‘ahead of schedule’… a term I am not so familiar with in such circumstances, but it set a superb tone for the day.

Ange & Chris chose to have their photographs taken prior to the ceremony providing their first visions of each other be in an intimate and private setting without 100 or more people surrounding. They met at Puddicombe Farms & Estate Winery in Winona, Ontario. The location just fit Chris & Ange’s vision and the old vintage style train cars complimented the old Hollywood Glam feeling of Ange’s dress. The ceremony and reception were held at Carmen’s Banquet Centre in Hamilton and every detail was arranged and handmade by Ange & her lovely team of wedding support.
