I love the masculinity of this color palette with just enough yellow to lighten the decor. For those who find black a bit strong or for those who aren’t allowed to use black due to cultural reasons, navy blue is a fabulous choice to pair with just about any color. I like to think that this yellow is more of a yellow-gold which really lends itself well to gold accents should you choose to incorporate them as well. Gold drop down earrings with a dark navy gemstone would look simply divine next to a simple, white gown. And I will never get over how much I love the yellow dress by J. Mendel. Genius and totally architectural. So modern and just right.

I started this inspiration board after falling in love with the gorgeous aqua colored sweater from j.crew. I love pairing aqua with dark greys and browns, so it was really nice to see it work so well with a smooth cream. To ground the colors, it would be best to add some dark brown to the mix…love!

I am a sucker for orchids. Every year I look forward to the Orchid Dinner hosted by the New York Botanical Garden. So this time I chose my favorite creative table displays and pulled out some color palettes that any bride could translate into a wedding.

There were too many, so click below to see the last two color palettes.

It’s about time I put together an inspiration board of my favorite palette of black, white & green. It’s fresh, modern and so so soo chic. I knew immediately it would be my inspiration. And maybe that’s why I’m so drawn to the contrast of black and white, as seen in the room decor at Europark Hotel in Barcelona and why I’m a big fan of Chanel…

So I dug around my “Melissa & Jason Wedding” folder to compile a simple inspiration board to share. I’ve tried my best to remember where I pulled the images from, so please be patient with the sources! The inspiration was urban city chic. It’s pretty fitting that I was listening to “Empire State of Mind” while making it!

I came across this real wedding from Better Homes & Gardens and decided it was just too great to pass up. The bride wanted a lavender themed wedding.. incorporated it in her hair, left bundles at the guestbook table, and provided dried lavender pouches for the guests to throw after the ceremony. Lovely!

I was immediately drawn to the vibrant shades of pink in this wedding showcased in Portland Bride & Groom. They have some other really beautiful ‘real weddings’ - check it out!

I’m off to Ottawa, ON tomorrow for 3 days on business, but thanks to my nifty laptop I’ll be able to post from there. Until then…

One word: Fresh
I love the combination of the blue of a robin’s egg with a bright yellow. It sure makes me happy.
