Part II of the Suiting Your Groom series courtesy TheRingBearer.ca - tall and slender men!

If your groom is tall and slender, keep these tips in mind while helping him pick his wedding attire.

For a Formal Wedding
What Works
Solid colour suits in light shades can help add shape and look great on slender guys. Medium sized ties
with half Windsor knots complement this body type.
Stay Away From
Avoid fits that are extremely slim or skinny, as they will make this groom look thinner. Big knots in ties can make this groom look un-proportioned.

Over the next few days, TheRingBearer.ca will be sharing with us some tips on how to best dress a groom based on their body type. Let’s start off with the short & muscular men!

If your groom is short and bulky, keep these tips in mind while helping him pick his wedding attire.

For a Formal Wedding
What Works
Look for suits that shape and contour the body and pair them with skinny and medium size ties. Knotting the tie can make a difference too; school boy, Pratt or Half Windsor knots look best.
This groom has strong build – so emphasize your assets with a top that really shows off the shoulders. Dark colours and earth tones work especially well.
Stay Away From
Loud patterns and very bright colours that can bring attention to areas a groom may want to hide. However, don’t avoid colour completely, soft pastels work wonders.

Hope you all had a great weekend!
Our regular guest blogger, The Ring Bearer, will continue to join us twice a month, but will be posting specifically for the men for the next 2 months. So men, take note, or ladies, make sure you show this to your soon-to-be husbands! Today they’ll be sharing ten tips for guys on how to be a dreamy groom.

1. Send over a present on the day of the wedding. Make it personal, such as a love letter telling her you can’t wait to see her today.
2. Send flowers to her work to remind her of why you’re marrying her.
3. To relive her of the stress, plan a date night a couple weeks before the wedding. On the date, make it a rule that there’s absolutely no discussion about the wedding. It’s just about the two of you.
4. Engrave your wedding bands with a personal message that’s just between the two of you.
5. Plan a surprise excursion on your honeymoon, such as swimming with dolphins or scuba diving lessons.
6. Make sure you clean up for the big day - shave, get a manicure, eyebrows plucked, etc.
7. Send her a text the morning of the wedding and tell her how much you love her and how much you can’t wait to start your lives together.
8. Plan a couples massage a couple weeks before the wedding so she can de-stress.
9. Compliment the mother-of-the-bride on how beautiful she looks.
10. Don’t forget to plan regular date nights once you’re married!

October has been a crazy month! I am literally aching for it to be over!
Today’s post comes a bit later than usual, as I spent 3 hours last night working my butt off to get my out-of-towner save-the-dates done. I took some pictures of my mess, in addition to my personalized envelopes which I’ll hopefully have a chance to post tomorrow. As well, I’ve been designing our website where we’ll be providing schedule details & accommodations for our guests. I’ve tasked Jason with calling hotels to get special room rates and I must say, he did good! Ladies, if you’re looking to get your grooms to do something, this is definitely one of them.
Stemming from my last post about “unique” boutonnieres, I’ve added yet another project on my list which is to create my own personalized boutonnieres! And despite the minuscule size of these suckers, I’d say it’s quite the project! I’ve purchased a couple of supplies online and will be heading to the craft stores sometime the future, so stay tuned for images of those as well. But knowing me and my “real day job”, it will be later than sooner, if you know what I mean. But still deciding on fresh floral boutonnieres so this may end up being either just a project for Wedding Obsession.
Here are a couple more ‘non-fresh floral’ boutonnieres to get you interested!

What do you think about DIY boutonnieres?

How super duper cute are these little things? Well, maybe you should keep out the “cute” part when showing them to your significant others. Instead, let them know that this is the one thing they can make their own :]

I love it when a groom can pull off a laid back style and still make it look chic. Check out these males and their casual diggs!

You don’t see them often, but these little accessories are seemingly making a comeback. Bling for your groom, tie clips add that extra touch of sophistication to a man’s outfit. Necessary? Definately not, but if you are choosing custom cufflinks anyways, it wouldn’t hurt to get a matching clip. The ones above are from Tateossian in the UK. But for us Canadians and Americans, you can buy similar ones at Zappos.

Came across these tie-watches for men by Neves…and thought this would be an interesting groomsman gift. But only for the unique and eclectic at heart!

Here’s a great example of where the floral colors of a wedding are not all from the same color theme. The flowers and styling of the event are by the very talented Beehive Events and the photography is by Jen Fariello. Check out their album, they do a fantastic job, especially with ‘green’ colored themes. (perfect for me because I’m looking to use that in my own wedding :P)
The bride’s bouquet & the groom’s boutonierre are black and purple, whilst the bridesmaids in pink bridesmaid dresses carried bouquets of green, pink, and red. However, the reception florals were similar to the bridesmaids’ bouquets and it just all seems to work. I guess every bride’s obsession with matching to a particular color scheme isn’t always necessary!
PS: Can anyone tell me what those little green ‘pea-like’ balls are in the bouquets and around the cake? I just can’t figure it out.

Skinny black ties were all over the carpet.

Bow ties for Brad & Aaron. Not sure how I feel about bow ties on men…I prefer the tie.

Men in Black - Black suits, black ties, black shirts. I just threw in Jonathan Rhys Meyers (in the middle) because he’s cute. And he was the only one wearing a black vest. *sigh*
