Wedding Use for Paint Chips?
Posted in Centerpieces, Decorations, Unique Ideas on 4 April 2008

How many of you still have lots of paint chips left over from deciding on what color to paint your homes?

Here are two unique ways to use these left over pieces for your wedding, while being eco-chic in the process.

Designers for the tables at Diffa’s Dining by Design event this week in New York innovatively used paint chips for decoration. Here, Vicente Wolf used paint chips as napkin rings and scattered other colorful chips across the table surface.

Always eco-friendly Daily Danny cut the paint chips into circles and tied them onto wine glasses with guest names.

Other uses: name cards & floral arrangements - ONLY for the crafty, or else it might look juvenile..

Confetti Cones

Have your confetti kits ready at the church porch and allow guests to help themselves. I believe this is the best part of the wedding for most guests. When do you get to throw things at the bride/groom? You can purchase the cones & box here.

Or, simply make your own. Just fill inexpensive mini vials with delicate rose petals, confetti, or rice. The vials are better than cones because there’s less of a chance of guests spilling them over.

Wedding Polymer Pearls

Fill your vases with polymer pearls that are actually created by simply adding water.

These polymer crystals are a dirt-free way to store water and keep cut flowers fresh for a relatively long time. It also allows you to incorporate your color scheme into your centerpieces. The pearls can be rehydrated over again in the future.

They are available in a various colors at about $6/pack.

Purchase here and here.

Extreme Hello Kitty Wedding
Posted in Decorations, Unique Ideas on 24 March 2008

As a young one and even till this day, I’ve had an affinity for Hello Kitty items. Unfortunately, there really wasn’t any point in keeping my collectables, so I gave away most of them to family friends with little girls. However, I haven’t given it all away…in fact, I’m wearing my Hello Kitty earrings right now, and I still have my HK diamond necklace in my jewelry box.

So…it would be kind of nice if I could incorporate some Hello Kitty in my wedding…but not to this extreme! See the video below and tell me they aren’t crazy! I swear they’ve made “Hello Kitty” everything!

Asian Themed Weddings

Although I knew Lisa Ling married quite recently, I have never seen her wedding pictures. She really followed an Asian theme to its fullest. Click to see larger image.

Here’s another way to incorporate ‘asian’ into your wedding without going as extreme.

Bravit Candle
Posted in Centerpieces, Decorations on 17 March 2008

This is, once again, a candle that will amaze your guests. This modern candle from ‘made in design’ starts off with one burning wick and evolves into several burning flames. You’ll notice a design as the candle burns because the wick is weaved throughout the wax. The Bravia candle comes in 4 different sizes and patterns. Click HERE to purchase.

Consider putting it at the center of your reception tables if they are rectangular. It might not work as well for smaller round tables.

It can also be put at the bar, dessert table, gift table, or at the entrance or hall leading to the room. But make sure you don’t catch anything on fire with the multiple flames!

Personalized Candle Holder

This candleholder can be as versatile as you want it to be. You can fill it with water and immerse your favorite flowers in it. Or, you can fill it with stones. Perhaps you have a beach theme? Surely you can fill it with sand and seashells.

My suggestion? Putting a single flower along with a picture of the happy couple. Another suggestion is to put in a paper with your favorite quote or lyrics to your first dance.

You can do so many things! Click HERE to learn more about this prize winning candleholder.

Spell It Out in Letters

Want to add that extra something to your wedding reception decore? Create your own words, phrases, or the bride/groom names in large letters, and display them wherever you like. viaLetter, a company in the UK, will create, package, and send you your word. Or, if you want to send your congratulations to someone you know was just engaged, why not send them “congratulations” in letters? clever.

Here are a couple examples from viaLetter:

I know that personally for me, I would put the words “sweets” up at my dessert table.

Unfortunately, it looks like they don’t ship to Canada or the US, so you can buy letters like these at any craft store or hardware store. All you have to do is paint them so they match your reception colors.
