Desperate Housewife Felicity Huffman looked like a goddess when she wore this Marchesa white gown to the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The jewel encrusted white gown looks almost exactly like the wedding gown from the Lara Hélène Bridal Atelier, Spring 2009 collection. Any gown with a similar design will be a sure stunner on any bride. The empire waist disguises any tummy you don’t want to be seen, and the jeweled bands across the chest bring attention up towards the face.

When I think of Kate Winslet, I immediately remember the mint-green Valentino gown that she wore to the 2007 Oscars. The asymmetric, one-shoulder gown has a sash that distinctly wraps across the chest and trails down the back. Similarly, the white Galina gown on the right is a one-shoulder, A-line gown that is draped across the chest. However, it is gathered near the neckline with a jeweled broach to add a bit of glamour to the simple, yet elegant dress.

Fashion icon Grace Kelly wore this Helen Rose gown on her April 19, 1956 wedding to Prince Rainier of Monaco. Three dozen seamstresses worked on the gown for six weeks, resulting in a 125 year old rose-point lace, silk taffeta gown costing over $7200. Princess Grace then donated the gown to the Philadelphia Museum of Art where it is still showcased today.

You too can wear the same regal design as Grace Kelly through VoguePatterns, which can provide you with the dimensions and patterns needed for a custom fit.

Thanks Susan for sending this to me!

Carrie Underwood wore this Georges Chakra white lace dress to the 2007 American Music Awards and received mixed reviews. The high collared halter can be seen in the Spring 2009 St. Pucchi wedding gown collection, although the gown is longer and slightly different in detail. With a halter like that, there’s no need to accessorize because the necklace is built into the gown!

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s 2007 oscar gown by Proenza Schouler helped label her as one of the best dressed for the night. The pretty one shoulder detail fastened at the center of the bust resembles the Elizabeth Fillmore Fall 2008 wedding gown on the right. Considered one of the top 2008 wedding gown trends, the one shoulder detail looks to hold strong through 2009.

Beautiful Kate Walsh wore a red satin Pamela Dennis gown to the Prime Time Emmys. This unforgiving silouette hugs all your curves, so if you’re daring, consider this Jenny Lee dress from her 2009 collection. Jenny Lee never disappoints and seems to pull away from the ‘traditional’ wedding gown. Click here to see the rest of her collection.

Everytime there is a red carpet event (oscars, grammys, sags etc..) I always wonder what it would be like if all the dresses were white. Indeed, many of the top wedding designers such as Elie Saab, Oscar de la renta, and Monique Lhuillier dress celebrities for these fashion showcasing events.

Here are some examples:

America Ferrera wore this stunning charcoal grey Monique Lhuillier lace gown to the 2008 SAG awards. I immediately saved this on my desktop because I always wanted a dress that had an asymmetrical neckline made of lace ever since I saw a similiar Celine Dion dress that she wore in her performance with Andrea Bocelli at the Grammys. To my excitement, I just so happened to see this wedding gown from Legends by Romona Keveza’s spring 2009 collection that was a spitting image of Ferrera’s dress!

Ruffle me up! Hilary Swank wore this black ruffled Monique Lhuillier dress to the Hollywood premiere of PS I Love You. Right is a ruffled gown by Elizabeth Fillmore (Spring 2009).

I’ll keep posting these when I come across matches!
