The 2009 Hong Kong Fashion Week just passed and I found some really pretty items that would work in a wedding setting. In fact, I’d probably wear any of these dresses as a guest to any formal event – they are so pretty. The hair really exemplifies the classic 50’s Audrey Hepburn look. You don’t see that often nowadays.
For 2009, you can see a big trend is short dresses in white and pink pastels with lots of detailing. I’ve also thrown in red Japanese gown because I thought it was a contemporary way to wear an ethnic dress.
However, one thing that irks me about these pictures is the fact that these girls are way to skinny!

I just love the print on this guest book by ArtKitten on etsy. Not only do I love the blossoms, but the peachy-pink & teal colors looks fantastic together. To go with this scheme, I would place bridesmaids in chocolate brown knee-length dresses. The brides would then wear hairpieces like the peach, vintage florals as above by SmittenXOXO (again, on etsy). These hairpieces can also be used as dainty wrist corsages when paired with a dark chocolate ribbon.

White gowns were plenty at last night’s Art of Elysium’s annual charity gala in Los Angeles. And immediately, I thought of ‘wedding’!! Blame it on Bride Wars. Star power was also in attendance, as celebs glammed up for the annual black-tie event. Present were Tobey Maguire, Kate Bosworth, Gerard Butler, Milla Jovovich, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and many many more.
I’ve attached a picture of some of the gowns worn by the attendees for some fashion inspiration. I really like Nicole Richie’s clutch that she paired with her white gown.

I’ve been spending a lot of time browsing the new collections of my favorite lines and designers and noticed that cobalt or royal blue is extremely popular. Though, I have yet to see this color as a bridesmaid dress, I think it might actually work. Light blue hydrangeas or a bouquet of white would be stunning.

It’s been a chilly -25 degrees celcius these past few days and I’m finding it so hard to focus on anything remotely important (like studying for my university exam). So as a treat I’d rather browse for some new inspiration wedding-wise and came across some of Jennifer Behr’s most recent bridal accessories hair collection. I posted before about how much I loved her silk and jeweled hairbands, so it’s to no surprise that I love her newest pieces as well. Here are three delicate floral ideas that add a feminine touch to just about any gown.

Actress Linda Chung recently played model in some very pretty wedding gowns in the newest issue of Wedding Magazine (Feel.hk). Kind of a side note, but because I’ve been told I look like her, this kind of helps me choose hair styles that might look good on me! Ah..the choices. Anyways, you might not be able to read the article and to be honest, I’m not great at Chinese either, so do enjoy the photos instead. Take away from this some trends regarding gowns, hair, accessories, etc that give us a glimpse of what’s popular in Hong Kong right now. I think I’ll be asking my mom who is there right now to share a bit about what she saw in Hong Kong and share it with you in the near future.

Some of you might have seen this wedding featured in the Brides magazine, but it warrants a second look! The bride tried her best to incorporate vintage details into her wedding and there are some great ideas you can take away from it.
The groom and groomsen wore striped green and black socks from J Crew, while the bride wore cute, red pumps that were perfect for her vintage ‘look’,
The satin ivory Jim Hjelm gown was altered to achieve the bride’s vision. The straight neckline was changed into a sweetheart style and the belt was actually made by the bride. She purchased a vintage belt buckle from ebay and added it to some extra fabric. She even created her own birdcage veil, which really tops off the look.
The bridesmaids wore chocolate-brown lace dresses.
To honor the family, the bride’s mother created this family tree which was displayed at the reception.
A common thread throughout was the pattern seen on the reception tables which was silk screened on the linens. Tables were named after cities the couple visited together. I love the contrast between the purple florals and the rustic motif & place cards.

I stumbled across these two beautiful cocktail dresses which undeniably have the same amethyst color, yet have completely different looks. I tried to pair each dress with some accessories that best complete the ‘picture’ and provide inspiration for those of you who are deciding on how to outfit your bridesmaids.

The first look is our ‘sweet & pretty‘ look which is grounded by the velvet black and purple gown by Badgley Mischka. Pulling out some inspiration from the black velvet in the gown, I chose a black velvet peep-toe shoe from RSVP and a clutch labeled “BJuliet” by Steve Madden. To match the shiny rhinestones on the belted bodice of the gown, I chose simple 14karat white gold solitare 0.05 carat earrings from ICE.

In the same amethyst color, this Marc Bouwer “Glamit!” wrap dress immediately exudes a “sexy & fun” look for your bridesmaids. I chose accessories in black that would match the black stoned empired belt on the dress along with yellow gold tones. The ring is by Juicy Couture (R-Cameo) and the 2.5 inch heeled leather sandles are a great deal from ALDO. To complete the look, I paired the outfit with a vintage-inspired “Carolina box clutch” by Jill Stuart which adds just enough glamour. The pebbled-leather box has suede banding and stud detailing complete with enamel-inlaid metal bands at front and back.
Not sure which look I would choose, but I’d probably side with the first one. You don’t want your bridesmaids looking toooooo sexy on your wedding day!

Beverley Mitchell, an actress on the now retired show 7th Heaven, married accountant fiance Michael Cameron in Ravello, Italy on Wednesday in front of 100 friends and family. Former costars Jessica Biel and Mackensie Rosman were two of the seven bridesmaids and also in attendance was Justin Timberlake, boyfriend of Jessica Biel.
Mitchell wore the “Michaela” gown from the Melissa Sweet collection, while the groom wore a tux by Kenneth Cole. The couple were engaged on New Year’s Even in 2005 when he proposed with a Louis Glick 3.5 carat yellow diamond.
“They are a really good fit for each other,” a source close to the couple told PEOPLE at the time. “Her friends and family are thrilled.”
