Real Wedding: Annick & Amanda
Posted in Bridesmaid, Real Weddings on 3 January 2010

Real wedding time! Lance Burns sent over photos from Amanda & Annick’s Edmonton wedding that I waited so patiently for! I met Amanda from my Toastmasters group and after hearing about all her wedding details leading up to the date, I couldn’t wait to see how the wedding turned out. Amanda & Annick are such an adorable couple and I can’t imagine a pair that adore it each more than these two. I LOVE the colors of the bouquets which were provided by La Piazza Dasee.

Here’s what Lance had to say about the day:

Being the photographer for Amanda and Annick’s wedding was an honour. The day was perfect in both weather and splendor. The dresses were amazing, the bouquets were in full bloom and ceremony was touching. I was happy to have been included in such a great event. I loved the ceremony as it was outdoors at a gazebo in downtown Edmonton and the weather was well above 30 degrees! The formals were shot at Rutherford house on the U of A campus as well as other shots in the surrounding area. We ended our day at the legislature building and enjoyed the pool for an evening dip in our dresses! It was the perfect ending to a perfect day! Congratulations to you both, Amanda and Annick!

Amanda & Annick - I wish you all the best in the future. xoxo Thanks to Lance Burns Photography for sharing the captured moments & details with us!

Posted in Bridesmaid on 16 December 2009

The new Vera Wang bridesmaid collection is out! Each gown comes in a variety of colors. Which one is your fave? I’m really feeling the colbat number with the black straps and the first two on the top row. Pretty.

Trend: Two Toned Bridesmaid Dresses
Posted in Bridesmaid on 10 February 2009

I’ve been seeing more bridesmaid gowns with two tones, particularly a mix between black and white. I really like the first Alfred Sung one - the silhouette is flattering.

Blush Pink Bridesmaids
Posted in Bridesmaid on 29 January 2009

The pictures just don’t do this dress any justice. I was totally adamant on getting black bridesmaid dresses, but was suddenly willing to change because of this blush pink cocktail dress. This sweetheart neckline gown falls just above the knees and has a simple black belt that ties into a bow in the back. You can’t really see it well, but there is rhinestone detailing on the right side. I think it would look adorable when paired with a black peeptoe pump like the one below by Steve Madden.

I’m not sure if this is the color for me, but anyone considering it, here’s a palette that will look fabulous for any wedding. A great combination.

Pretty Things from HK Fashion Week
Posted in Bridesmaid, Gowns on 22 January 2009

The 2009 Hong Kong Fashion Week just passed and I found some really pretty items that would work in a wedding setting. In fact, I’d probably wear any of these dresses as a guest to any formal event - they are so pretty. The hair really exemplifies the classic 50’s Audrey Hepburn look. You don’t see that often nowadays.

For 2009, you can see a big trend is short dresses in white and pink pastels with lots of detailing. I’ve also thrown in red Japanese gown because I thought it was a contemporary way to wear an ethnic dress.

However, one thing that irks me about these pictures is the fact that these girls are way to skinny!

Pretty Teal & Peach Blossoms
Posted in Bridesmaid on 20 January 2009

I just love the print on this guest book by ArtKitten on etsy. Not only do I love the blossoms, but the peachy-pink & teal colors looks fantastic together. To go with this scheme, I would place bridesmaids in chocolate brown knee-length dresses. The brides would then wear hairpieces like the peach, vintage florals as above by SmittenXOXO (again, on etsy). These hairpieces can also be used as dainty wrist corsages when paired with a dark chocolate ribbon.

White Shines at Art of Elysium’s Gala

The Art Of Elysium's 2nd Annual Black Tie Gala - Inside

White gowns were plenty at last night’s Art of Elysium’s annual charity gala in Los Angeles. And immediately, I thought of ‘wedding’!! Blame it on Bride Wars. Star power was also in attendance, as celebs glammed up for the annual black-tie event. Present were Tobey Maguire, Kate Bosworth, Gerard Butler, Milla Jovovich, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and many many more.

I’ve attached a picture of some of the gowns worn by the attendees for some fashion inspiration. I really like Nicole Richie’s clutch that she paired with her white gown.
