OSCARS 2010 Gowns
Posted in Bridal Accessories, Gowns on 8 March 2010

Happy monday everyone! Anyone catch the Oscars last night? Award shows usually bore me, especially the oscars because I usually haven’t seen 90% of the movies that are nominated..but I knew I had to catch the red carpet action to see what everyone was wearing. And of course…OF COURSE, there were the ‘usual’ designers that are the choice of the celebs – Armani Prive (Jennifer Lopez & Anna Seifried), Marchesa (Vera & Sandra Bullock), Oscar de la Renta (Cameron Diaz), Elie Saab… Here’s a couple of trends that I picked up while going through the images. Which was your favorite gown? Mine had to be Maggie Gyllenhaal in the blue floral gown by Dries Van Noten & Vera’s fushia ruffle number by Marchesa.

Pretty Belted Details
Posted in Bridal Accessories on 22 February 2010

Happy Monday…oh who am I kidding? mondays are never fun!

It’s been a while since I’ve checked out Jennifer Behr’s accessories and was delighted to see that she’s expanded her belt collection alongside her already existing hair piece collections. I think these pretty belt details would be such a nice embellishment on any wedding gown…and for some reason I’m really loving the second one. It would add some ‘grit’ and unexpected strength to a delicate gown.

Cap Toes!

I have no idea why, but I have this affinity for two tone flats. I’ve been seeing them a lot more this season and I think they would be so utterly chic and unexpected under a big white dress.

A New Year
Posted in Bridal Accessories, Contests, personal on 30 December 2009

How was everyone’s holidays? I realize tomorrow is near years eve, but I figured I should post since it’s been a while. I spent the holidays over at plenty of holiday parties and took a day trip to Calgary with Jason’s family to see some extended relatives, and really it feels like it’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to just sit and…vegetate! The mailbox is full and it’s time to get a crackin!

And while I normally don’t do new years resolutions, I’ve decided this year might be a bit different. I’m going to make a list of things I think I should be doing and see how things go.

  • Limit myself to 2 coffees a day. This is going to be hard! It’s funny but I started drinking coffee on my trip to Australia in high school and I feel like I can’t function without it.
  • Start a filing cabinet. I am sadly one that piles receipts and bills literally everywhere and when it’s time to clean up, I stick them in bags and try to forget about them. I guess it’s time to be more organized! I am horrible..I just found a cheque that I should have deposited close to 3 months ago and this wasn’t the first time…
  • Delegate. With wedding invitations due soon and honeymoon plans to organize, it’s time I ask for help. Time to organize a girl party to help put things together and time to crack the whip on Jason to start helping out!

I can think of a million other things I should be doing, but at least this is a start. And I am REALLY dreading the “starting a filing cabinet” one. Can’t we all just have a personal assistant? :]

I totally forgot to mention I picked up my wedding gown 2 weekends ago and promise I will share it soon on the blog. It’s about an inch too big all over so it will take a good tailor to make it fit right. As with most dresses, I was between two sizes (i blame the hips!) and had to go up one. I guess they say it’s easier to take in the dress than take it out, right? Anyways, it ended up being a girls weekend out with Ashley and we had a blast in our snazzy Hotel Arts in Calgary followed by some bar food at a Calgary flames shrine which was a converted theatre.

Gosh I talk to much. But here’s a hair piece I’ve been eyeing over from myrakim on etsy. Love it!

I’ve also been thinking about shrugs lately, since it might be chilly in May, so here are some of the ones I’ve come across and liked!

Happy planning & have a safe new years. I’ve got a new real wedding coming up very VERY soon and don’t forget to enter to win a custom thank you card design courtesy Dolcetto Designs.

Nine Premiere White Glam
Posted in Bridal Accessories, Gowns on 23 December 2009

Christmas is near….so so close. It snowed about 5 more centimeters these past few days and once again, it’s so nice to be inside. I think today will be one of my last posts before the holidays. I am in serious need of some “no computer” time because ever since starting this blog, I’ve found myself relying on it a lot. As well, it’s time for some serious relaxation & time to spend with loved ones :]

Anyone who knows me understands that I am a sucker for celebrity fashion. I never miss a day without catching up on my celebrity gossip (I am admitedly a PerezHilton regular) and I’m always the one that buys the ad filled Fashion Magazines. A couple days ago I knew I had to post about the “Nine” premiere which saw Fergie & Marion wearing pieces that immediately screamed…BRIDE! Wonder if their stylists are kicking themselves for not making sure anyone else was going to be wearing white?

Great examples of how to pair your gown with carefree hair, a clutch and accessories. Love how Marion contrasts her white gown with some black details.

Rustic Chic
Posted in Bridal Accessories, Decorations on 14 December 2009

It’s been colder than -40 degrees C with windchill this weekend in Edmonton, and I can’t believe we were the second coldest place in the world on Sunday (next to Siberia of all places!). So I am in dire need of some cheering up. I’ve been basically locked down in my house, only leaving for my 9-5 job which has been a laborious task! Check out these table arrangements from Emersonmade complete with paper kraft runners & colorful blooms which are rustic chic at its finest.

Actually, I searched around the site and found even more inspiration. Check out their blog for more ideas.

Check out these pretty clutches from MISMA on etsy. I think they would be a nice gift for your bridesmaids or serve as a punch of color with your wedding gown.

I’m obsessed with these cute flats by J. Crew. For a tall bride like myself, it’s nice to be able to wear something that’s both fashionable and comfortable. J. Crew always gets it right.
