I’m always LOVE weddings that infuse two different cultures into one. This week’s last wedding feature is best described as an asian-fusion wedding filled with beautiful red (lucky for the Chinese) details that pop next to an all white backdrop. This is definitely a contemporists’ dream and I can definitely say that I’m one of them. This Toronto wedding was captured by Rosetta Li Weddings and planned by Wendy Lee who fitting calls her wedding planning business Asian Fusion Weddings. Wendy graciously shared some of the details from the wedding as Max & Carina work overseas and are a busy couple!

What was the overall inspiration for the wedding decor?
The inspiration for the wedding design was something that I came up with based on the knowledge that the bride is Chinese and the groom is Western. Since it was an East marries West wedding celebration, we incorporated the colour red which is traditionally the lucky wedding colour for Chinese weddings and showcased the abundance of red roses which symbolizes romance and love in Western culture.

Their favorite wedding moment?
Judging by their expression, it was when they saw the ceremony and reception areas all done up for the first time. They live and work overseas so everything was planned oceans apart. They traveled only a mere few days prior to the wedding itself so when they saw everything in its place, they were more than thrilled. Seeing something come to life is such a different experience than seeing pictures and sketches.

Their advice for future brides and grooms-to-be:
They would likely advise couples to seek out an experienced wedding planner to help navigate through the wedding planning process. The groom’s father was so cute, he came up to me at the end of the evening and said “We wouldn’t have been able to do all of this without you”. For me, my role is to be an active listener that helps discern how to combine not only different cultures, but the bride and groom’s tastes and styles as well. That’s why our Asian Fusion Weddings are all about East Marries West for Double Happiness because in essence we help infuse “his and hers” to become theirs.
