One of my favorite wedding color combinations, yellow & grey, is featured in today’s detail-filled wedding and it’s perfectly paired with hints of green and black. Captured by Trevor & Larissa, Jackie and Mike held their wedding at the hip, chic venue 99 Sudbury in Toronto and were inspired to have an ‘urban’ styled wedding. So many great ideas to get you inspired, I promise! Enjoy.
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing Mike staring back at me, back lit by the glass wall at 99 Sudbury. Our ceremony was perfect. I love remembering everything about it!
How did you and your husband meet?
My husband and I have known one another for over ten years now and we initially met through my best friend (his best friend’s sister incidentally). Manda was my bridesmaid and her brother Stevan a groomsman for Mike at our wedding. There was always a spark between us and we fell in love in our late 20s and have been together since.
What was the inspiration behind your decor and color choices?
I was inspired by the venue (99 Sudbury) and Bondi Beach, Australia (where we live). I wanted to go for something that looked “urban” but that subtly referenced the laid back beach lifestyle that we have adopted in our new home. To do this, I opted for a bold colour scheme (black, grey, yellow, white, green) and incorporated elements like the palms on the tables and the Australian-like flowers in the bouquets.
Do you have any advice for other brides/grooms-to-be?
It sounds cliche but don’t take wedding planning too seriously because it goes by so quickly. One minute you’re labouring over spreadsheets, seating plans and budgets and the next you’re sitting in your hotel room post party wondering if what just happened was a dream.
