I love hearing about wedding traditions from around the world. It’s so interesting to see how things are done differently. Today, Lydiane Gaborieau Photography shares with us Vanessa & Jacky who reside in Hong Kong. Jacky previously lived in Montreal for 2 years and decided it was the perfect place for their engagement photos and pre-wedding photos. What exactly are pre-wedding photos? Well, it’s a chance for couples to dress up like a bride and groom (gown, hair, make-up and all!) and share them at the wedding reception. So you’ll notice that today will feature 2 posts – a casual, yet adorable engagement followed by some formal shots from their pre-wedding photos. So be sure to come back in a little bit!
Before coming to Montreal for the photo shooting, I had my proposal in Hong Kong on July 29. The following week we were trying to plan for our wedding date. We didn’t want to set the date too far away like more than one year after the proposal, we want to ride on the momentum and set it within the year of dragon (parents favorite!). We ended up finding a venue located in Hong Kong city hall which is offering traditional Chinese theme with modern décor.
I lived in Montreal for almost 2 years when my family immigrated to Canada back in 1993. We then moved out to Vancouver and I moved back to Hong Kong for work. Yet, I still love Montreal. I appreciate the culture, history and architecture. I always thought of visiting Montreal someday with my other half, so when we decided to visit my parents in Vancouver in mid-August, it was the perfect time to bring my fiancée to Montreal.
How they met: Vanessa and I worked on the same floor in the same company in Hong Kong. We first got to know each other during an after-work gathering when the World Cup was underway. I still remember that she was rooting for Germany and I was rooting for Uruguay. We then started going out for lunches often and eventually started to date.
Come back in a little bit to see their beautiful pre-wedding photos. You’ll love them!
