Lynzie of Love by Lynzie joins us this morning to share their second project of a series of DIY items captured by photographer Richelle Hunter. Inspired by the lovely Valentino bow shoes, here’s how you can create chic, statement bows that you can attach to your favorite pair of heels.

You’ll need:
-simple peep toe pumps of your choice
-matching satin faced ribbon
-stringed rhinestones
-scissors
-stapler
-E6000 glue
-Shoe Clips (optional)
Most of these supplies can be found in a fashion textile store in the fashion or sewing district of your city.

Cut the ribbon to the desired length and begin folding into the shape of a bow. We chose to do three folds on each side to get as much volume as possible. Staple the ribbon at the centre of the folds to hold the folds firmly in place- this may need more than one staple. Ensure that all staples are in the centre and close together so they can be hidden.

Cut a small rectangle of ribbon to wrap around to form the centre of the bow. Secure the ends of this piece with a small dab of the E6000 glue, allowing this to dry before the next step.

Apply small dabs of glue to the edges of the ribbon and trim with the stringed rhinestones. This can be tedious but take your time to ensure accuracy. Adorn the centre with larger rhinestones for more sparkly if desired.

Glue the bow directly onto the shoe using the E6000 or, glue a shoe clip to the back. Either will produce the same look- with the shoe clip option, you can reuse the bows on other pairs or, add hair clips and accent an updo.

The finished product!

Currently Obsessing Over… | Lynzie Kent on October 17, 2012I love your nail polish in the images. Is that Gelish Seafoam, by chance? Sorry for the question unrelated to the post, but I did like the tutorial also! :)
Lexi on October 17, 2012Such a great idea! I rarely like the bows that some shoes come with. However, I found this made-to-order shoe company in London called Upper Street, they have the cutest bows. http://www.upperstreet.com/
