Happy Tuesday! I’m excited to welcome Love by Lynzie and Richelle Hunter who’ve teamed up to grace us with some fabulous DIY projects. Here’s the first..you’ll love it!
The budget friendly luminaries can be used as votives, table numbers or signs and add a little sparkle to your table scapes and walkways. You’ll need tin cans of varying sizes, spray paint in your choice of colour, a large, sturdy nail, a hammer, tealight candles and a lighter. For colours, we used Krylon’s quick dry spray paint in Pistachio and Ivory.

After cleaning your cans of any excess labelling or glue, spray evenly with the spray paint. Let stand for about 15 minutes or until dry.

Draw out a pattern on your can using a pencil. Holding the nail firmly in place above the pattern, begin to punch holes into the can using the hammer and nail.

Light a tealight candle and gently place in the centre of your luminary.

Line walkways, aisles and tables as you see fit!

Bert on September 19, 2012Hey! Great post :)
Tip: To prevent the can from denting, first fill with water and sand, and then freeze it (the sand keeps the bottom from ballooning out when it’s frozen) just let it thaw, dry it off, paint, and voila!
