Today’s bride and groom met while they were weeeee little ones in grade 5 and have been dating since early high school. With green as the main color for the bride and a hockey theme for the avid Vancouver Canucks fan groom, this wedding is pretty darn cool. Shot by The Other Angle Photography, this Vancouver wedding is bound to get you contemplating a contemporary style.

Well, my favorite colour is green so that was a jumping off point for me when deciding on a colour. We decided to mix in grey and white so we weren’t so dependent on finding decor in that ‘perfect’ green. We’d seen lots of yellow and grey weddings online and thought, why not green and grey!
The idea for a little bit of a hockey theme came from my husband! If it were up to him we would have been married on ice skates in the rink! He found the idea online of using a hockey jersey as our guest book. He created the altered Vancouver Canucks logo himself and got the awesome jersey made with our family name BIRD and then the number 86 for August 6th on the back. From there I thought of hockey tickets for seating cards and then pucks/Canuck players as the table cards. I liked how we used little drops of hockey so that is was still pretty and fun!

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
I don’t think either of us have a single moment from the wedding day that is our favorite! We enjoyed every minute of it!! I think what we loved the most was just how much fun we all had. From us to our guests to our vendors – our wedding was a blast! The food was delicious, the weather was amazing and we were surrounded by all the people we loved! It truly was amazing!!

Lastly I love handmade and homemade things. I’ve always made my own cards and loved to be crafty, so I thought how could my wedding be any different. I loved making every item in our wedding from the chocolate chip cookies to the hockey tickets and bunting flags!

Do you have any advice for other brides-to-be?
To have fun! When it comes to planning, do your research, search the magazines, check the blogs out online and compile all the things you like and then narrow it down to what you love. When it comes to the actual big day – HAVE FUN, just enjoy the day and have someone other than yourself who knows the order of the day, it doesn’t necessarily have to be someone you’d hired, just a friend who is the go-to on the day when there is a question. Oh and have fun!

The “Other Angle” did a job for my kids, and ultimately for our friends and family, that was spectacular. They became part of the wedding celebration in a very genuine and caring way; and they blended grace, humour, style and professionalism into what is truly a beautiful photographic journey, and an amazing visual memory, of a very special day for our family..
Thanks!
