Remember one of my latest obsessions? I got a lot of feedback from you all, telling me you loved air plants too. So you’ll probably be thrilled to hear that today’s photoshoot involves air plants and all things pretty. The innovative floral designs are all thanks to Kelly, the creative behind Ooh la la Design, based in Fonthill, Ontario, serving the Niagara region. The pieces are captured oh so beautifully by award winning photographer Bryan Caporicci Photography.
Says Kelly: The first time I saw air plants I was amazed. So much in fact that I spent hours in the greenhouse and my heart raced with each new specimen I encountered. Every plant is a work of art that depending upon the design application, takes on a completely different feel and look.
The styling and inspiration behind the photoshoot was twofold: to showcase the beauty of the air plants in 3 popular wedding themes and to also focus on a more sustainable and environmentally conscience approach to wedding design. I designed three unique tablescapes: vintage, botanical eclectic, and simple elegance. The bouquets were designed, with as much locally grown floral product as possible, to compliment the overall feel of each of the table designs. The end result was extraordinary and achieved what I had set out to convey. Ultimately my newlyweds will be left with plants that they can tend to along with their ever growing and changing relationship.
The choices of air plants for your wedding are endless. Their foliage colours and shapes compliment every scheme. They can be used in glass vessels of varying shapes to obtain a modern luxe look, grouped together with protea in a botanical bouquet , or arranged with garden roses and peonies in vintage crates or perched on top of an old suitcase.
