Vancouver’s been so good to us lately. A wedding giveaway and now another absolutely beautiful wedding. If you were every a girl who dreamed about getting married one day, you might have thought about something like this. Pretty pink shoes with bows, fluffed white gown, lovely jewels, and a handsome man on one side. Captured by Vanessa Voth Photography, Kelly & Derek and their love for the coast made for a beach themed wedding that was utterly chic.
We wanted to choose colours and decor that represented both of us and our passions as a couple. One of our favourite places to visit is the Caribbean and the aqua colour we used reminds us of the ocean. The overall decor inspiration for our wedding was beachy chic and comfortable. We spend a lot of time out on the water surfing or sailing, so we wanted to bring in elements and touches of the beach, without going overboard (pardon the pun) with a theme.
What was your favorite wedding moment?
Apart from saying our vows and becoming husband and wife, my favourite moment from my day was when we took sunset photos down on the dock at our venue. Once we had finished up, we returned to the reception, and it was brought to my attention that I was dragging around a dead mouse and mousetrap that had become stuck to my dress. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life. Our entire day was filled with laughter.
Any advice for future brides to be?
My advice for other brides is to not get caught up in trying to plan the ‘perfect wedding’. Create a wedding that represents both you, and your fiance, and make it something you’ll both enjoy. Too often I found myself worrying about what other people wanted or would think was beautiful!
