We pretty much knew where our wedding would be even before we got engaged!
The Burlington Golf & Country Club is a beautiful spot inside and out. I love the traditional brick building. It makes for such a beautiful backdrop in outdoor photos, not to mention the landscaping. All the windows in the reception room let the outside in as well. David and his dad are members and it’s where his mom has always hoped he would get married. Like I said, we had talked about this long before the ring came along and I never imagined it anywhere else after that. It was the first big decision we made for the wedding.
Since David and I first started dating, every Canada Day the boys have golfed here during the day and the girls and I have met them afterwards for dinner on the patio. Through out the year, we have dinner at the course with family to celebrate special occasions or just on a random Wednesday after men’s night. In fact, we had dinner here the same day we first said “I Love You” and we invited our friends to be in the wedding party at dinner here last month.
So we had our fingers crossed for the golf course and everything fell in to place in January when we went to visit with both of our moms. The course had our first choice for the wedding date available, it was kind of a no-brainer after that.
I have to admit, once I was standing in the middle of the empty reception room it became even more real. I started to sweat as I realised actually planning feels a whole lot more different than imagining all of it.
It’ll be convenient for us and for guests to have the ceremony and reception in the same place and the boys will probably sneak in a round of golf in the morning. The best thing about this location is that it’s pretty central for most of our guests that will be coming from different directions. We’re going to have the ceremony outside *fingers crossed*, with a view of the lake and the golf course. Then the usual cocktail hour before dinner and dancing. Lots of dancing.
Decor-wise, this venue provides a beautiful backdrop for photos outside and a neutral palette inside to with with the decor I have planned. (Don’t worry, you’ve all been waiting patiently for me to reveal my theme and it’s coming soon I promise.)
Our wedding is not going to be a stuffy golf course wedding. Anything but. There’s lots of fun, personal touches planned and I’m looking forward to sharing more about the theme and decor soon.
