I am a sucker for modern weddings, but I think you probably know that by now. So it’s no wonder that I’m sharing today’s wedding with you, held at the Galt Museum in Lethbridge. In a simple, yet classic wedding, Holly + Scott’s wedding’s filled with touches of deep purple & grey. The dress? Absolutely amazing. Photos are by the ever-talented Genevieve Renee Photographie.

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?

Scott says his favorite moment was watching me walk down the aisle, and then high-fiving my dad when my dad gave me away.
My favorite moment was listening to Scott recite his vows to me. He said, “You are my complete opposite, yet my perfect match. You are the wasabi in my shoyu, the levorotatory enantiomer to my dextrorotatory, the Han Solo to my Chewbacca, and the very best thing to ever happen to me. You are everything I ever want and everything I will ever need. I will be there for you no matter what comes our way.”

What was your inspiration behind your overall wedding decor and colour choices?

A few years ago, Scott brought some flowers home for me. They were these beautiful bright green/chartreuse fuji mums. They’re our favorite flowers now, and we wanted to work them and the color into our wedding. The eggplant color came in when my bridesmaids were trying on dresses and we found that the two colors contrasted really well together. Since the venue we were married in was so nice on its own with huge windows and views of the Lethbridge river valley, we wanted to keep the decorations fairly simple, but still elegant and personal. Lilly (Genevieve’s mom) from Everything Beautiful Events helped with beautiful centerpieces. The reception was made a bit more personal when my mom and aunts baked friends and family members favorite cookies, squares, and other desserts that we had instead of a wedding cake. They also made all of the small jars of blueberry jam that were given away as gifts to our guests.

Do you have any advice for other brides-to-be?

My advice is to accept help from family and friends who are nice enough to offer. The wedding planning process can be stressful at times, so do whatever you can to keep everything as exciting and fun as possible.
