There are wedding details that I’ve been certain of for a long time. The cake is one of them.
I am not a dessert person. If given the choice between a loaded ice cream sundae or a plate of nachos with the works, I’ll choose the nachos every time. Savory over sweet any day. Since I’m not likely to have a piece of our wedding cake, beyond a taste for a photo op, I’m not concerned with the flavor. Don’t get me wrong, I hope it tastes amazing and our guests will enjoy it, but whether it’s chocolate, red velvet, carrot cake or who knows what, I have no preference. That part I will leave entirely up to David.
However, as for the overall look and style, I have a very specific plan.
I had considered cupcakes for the longest time, that was until I saw ReadyGo banners and changed my mind immediately. The rest fell in to place after that.

For our cake, I’d like a simple 3 or 4 tiered cake with fluffy white frosting. On top will be a ReadyGo banner in one of our colours. Insted of the traditional bride and groom statues, I have two pairs of bird figurines to chooes from. (Friend’s don’t call me the crazy bird lady for nothing. Our house has lots of bird and owl details.)
One set is a pair of silver birds that I purchased from a small boutique in my hometown years ago. They were 30% off in a pre-renovation sale, I think I paid less than $10. I used to display them on a bookshelf in our old living room.

The other pair is a set of vintage porcelain figurines that my Oma (my mom’s mom) plucked off the shelf in her dining room in the middle of a Sunday lunch when she realised that I was collecting bird items.
Which set do you guys like best?
I might like to add a few fresh flowers just for some extra colour, but maybe not. Less is more.
Stay tuned, there’s a Share The Love giveaway coming later this week from ReadyGo.
