DIY brides, you’ll absolutely love today’s real wedding. Captured by Lightside Photography, Samantha & Chad married in Hinton, Alberta with the mountains as a backdrop. I just adore the purple in the bouquets and the customizable bridesmaid dresses in grey. This modern/rustic wedding was definitely a labour of love, straight down to all the reception details..read on to learn more.

Says Amanda (photographer): I love the unique feel of a lot of small town weddings and this one was no different. As a born and raised Edmontonian I’ve kind of always felt attached to prairie towns and how we do actually have a unique landscape here. I think this wedding captured that very well with the long prairie grass, the mountains off in the background, an old green barn in the middle of nowhere and a pair of rubber boots given to the bride by her groom on their wedding day.

Hung on the tree branches were photos of the couple’s favorite moments.

Guests were given customized matchbooks.

Decor inspiration:

My husband and I are very much into modern decor and originally were going very a very modern clean look until I started coming across all the rustic wedding inspiration. We live moments from the mountains and couldn’t ignore all the beautiful inspiration we had sitting outside our door. I stemmed a lot of my ideas from DIY blogs and made everything to suit us and our love for the outdoors. In the end I think the modern and rustic feel we had combined beautifully and it was such a good feeling to see it all come together.

Favorite moment on your wedding day:

Seeing my groom waiting for me at the end of the isle. We’ve lived together for a while and have a son together and he still takes my breath away. He, the groomsmen and family had to set up the entire ceremony site the wedding morning so I never got to see it all come together until the moment I walked into the field. Getting to see the gorgeous mountain landscape, all the decorations, friends and family who I hold dear to my heart while walking with my son and Dad up to the most amazing man is definitely a a moment I’ll never forget.

I simply love all the details in this wedding: the shoes as vases, the sparklers, photos hanging from heaven and “mr&mrs” table piece. Love it.
